Water returns to the garden

Standard

Aloha Gardeners,

Great news the water is back on and with full pressure!

Updates coming soon about orientations.

Another reminder: under no circumstances can you park on the road in front of the stone wall or any other place on the road. We will remove you from the garden if you are found parking here.

Happy gardening!

Aloha,
Linda

About napiligarden

We are a community organization of gardeners farming 180 individual plots to organically grow food for our families and community. Our mission is to cultivate a community rooted in sustainability by providing a place for cooperative organic gardening. The Napili Community Garden organizating council is made up of an active, enthusiastic and engaged group of gardeners who have been busy building infrastructure and have just formalized the structure and governance of our community organization. Ulupono Initiative has generously subleased a 3.6 acre of land just above Honoapi'ilani Hwy for use as the Napili Community Garden. The garden is located on former pineapple lands that have been out of production for a sufficient period of time to be eligible for organic certification.

  2. 08/13/12 The WATER IS OFF AT THE GARDENS AGAIN!

Our council leadership, whom I pray now has some credibility, has several times informed us … “ML&P constantly contacts us with gardener who park…They have very few rules for us and this land. But one of them is being continually broken and they are getting very annoyed.”

What about the contractual obligations of ML&P? I believe that they too are “very few”. Did they not contract to provide us with water in exchange for our lease payments? That contract has been broken repeatedly, and the NCG members who have communicated with me are becoming very annoyed!

If NCG members parked cross-ways all up and down the miserable deeply-rutted road, the most ML&P could take from us would be dead, brown, shriveled seedlings.

I believe that NCG members may safely bet their most sensitive body parts that if a crop of “cane” or “pine” was on the line, rather than healthy good food to feed our families, ML&P would almost immediately find and effect a cure to the constantly interrupted water supply.

We challenge the shadowy, insubstantial, anonymous complainers about where members park to step into the light and tell us why they refuse to provide a reliable water supply to grow our food.
