Community Meeting/ Work Day Saturday January 26th 9AM

Standard

Aloha Gardeners!

Saturday, January 26th at 9am – COMMUNITY WORKDAY.  Mark your calendars!

We are planning a community workday / meeting to form committees to create some organization at the garden.  Here are some of the committees that will be forming:

Community Work Hours Committee – To monitor and enforce community work hours. Create work projects for all garden members.
Water Watch/ Repair Committee- maintenance of the water lines
Compost Committee- Create/maintain a community compost area
Beautification Committee- To overall beautify the garden, planting and maintaining community areas.

There is lots to do to start off the 2013 year!  We will be starting off the community service hours, this year the minimum hours per plot have changed from 3 to 2 hours per month.  We will offer more projects to work on throughout year.  We need a good amount of help to take our garden to the next level.

Also, annual dues are to be mailed in by the end of January.  Please either mail to:

Napili Community Garden
5095 Napilihau St.
Suite 109-B #125
Lahaina, HI 96761

Or bring your check or money order on January 26th.  The cost of the single plot for the year is $60 and the cost for the double plot is $90 for the year.  Please see Anita on Saturday morning, and she will give you a receipt for your garden payment.  If you know of someone who wants to join the garden, please have them stop by the garden on the 26th and ask for Josie the Orientation Manager, or send her an email at napiligarden@gmail.com to sign up for one of our upcoming orientations.  We currently have single or double plots available.  Once we know who is planning on returning, we will have a large, new and correct garden plot map hanging back in the shed, so you can know who all your garden neighbors are!

If you have any questions, always feel free to email us at napiligarden@gmail.com

If you are receiving this email and do not have plans to continue with us, please be kind and send us an email and mention and that you will be releasing your plot back to the garden.

Happy Gardening and see you soon!  – The Garden Council

About napiligarden

We are a community organization of gardeners farming 180 individual plots to organically grow food for our families and community. Our mission is to cultivate a community rooted in sustainability by providing a place for cooperative organic gardening. The Napili Community Garden organizating council is made up of an active, enthusiastic and engaged group of gardeners who have been busy building infrastructure and have just formalized the structure and governance of our community organization. Ulupono Initiative has generously subleased a 3.6 acre of land just above Honoapi'ilani Hwy for use as the Napili Community Garden. The garden is located on former pineapple lands that have been out of production for a sufficient period of time to be eligible for organic certification.
