Aloha Gardeners!

NCG Updates November 25th, 2013

As previously posted, the Garden Council met on November 2, 2013 to finalize and vote on plans and allocation of funds for the November 9th & 10th work days. Seven out of eight board members were in attendance, as well as several members of the water committee and other garden members. Our secretary Brenda took notes which will be typed and posted at the end of the month on our website. Our financial statements for the garden are updated monthly by our treasurer Jamie and are also archived. Members in good standing are always welcome to request a current financial statement.

MAHALO TO ALL GARDENERS WHO PARTICIPATED in our November 9th & 10th Workdays!!! They were well attended despite the rain. Special thanks to Charlie and Robert for planning and leading the project and to the water committee and volunteers that gave many hours (and days!) of effort beyond their community hours to help complete the project. If you were unable to attend there are still ongoing areas where you can do your November community hours – please contact Robert for an assignment.

Josie and Jamie have mapped the new areas and will be in the garden on Nov 30/Dec 1 from 8AM – 10AM for our displaced gardeners to pick up their plot assignments and sign their 2014 renewals. If you are unable to attend, please contact them directly at napiligarden@gmail.com. Additionally, they will be available during the same hours on the remaining weekends in December to complete all other 2014 Napili Garden Membership Renewals. Renewal fees are unchanged from last year and will be due by January 1st. Gardeners that have not paid their renewals and signed their papers by January 31st will lose their garden plots. Please contact us if you have extenuating circumstances.

The compost for our NEW plots should arrive December 6th. It will be dispersed at the community workdays which will follow the schedule given below. Please do not take compost for already existing gardens! Compost for existing gardens will be available after all new work is completed and renewals are signed at the 1st of the year.

December 7th (8AM-10AM) / December 8th (2PM-4PM) – NCG Giveback/Workdays – please watch for postings and sign-ups

December 8th (4:00 PM) – General Meeting @ the garden

As always please forward any questions through the garden email at napiligarden@gmail.com.

About napiligarden

We are a community organization of gardeners farming 180 individual plots to organically grow food for our families and community. Our mission is to cultivate a community rooted in sustainability by providing a place for cooperative organic gardening. The Napili Community Garden organizating council is made up of an active, enthusiastic and engaged group of gardeners who have been busy building infrastructure and have just formalized the structure and governance of our community organization. Ulupono Initiative has generously subleased a 3.6 acre of land just above Honoapi'ilani Hwy for use as the Napili Community Garden. The garden is located on former pineapple lands that have been out of production for a sufficient period of time to be eligible for organic certification.
